Common Questions

Everything you need to know about Fluorocell

Fluorocell uses incredibly new computer vision models, so it can be applied to any task where you need to label regions in an image. However, as researchers ourselves, we have trained the bulk of Fluorocell on images commonly used in biological research. Thus we have had success in labeling GFP regions, selecting cells and subcellular structures, and labeling tissues and whole organisms across multiple model organism types such as yeast, zebrafish, C. elegans worms, and more! Fluorocell is a powerful tool for any researcher using image analysis in the biological sciences.
If you're not already tired of manual labeling, then you must have an image segmentation solution already! But as is common among many of the legacy tools, they're hard to configure and hard to use. The enterprise solutions are also incredibly expensive and often locked to the microscope they're sold with. Fluorocell is a step away from traditional softwares - it is an independent platform that can integrate with your file types, allowing you to take your image data, feed it through our model, and take the labels into any image analyzer you like (even ImageJ) and perform your quantitative analysis. We focus on being cheap and easy to use - in order to democratize the availability of AI cell labeling for researchers around the globe.
The hidden key to Fluorocell is our GPU-powered fine-tuning capabilities. Unlike any other segmentation software out there, we do an additional layer of training on your lab's datasets specifically to reach 100% performance in our models. Our goal isn't just to alleviate manual labeling - it's to eliminate it. Through our beta testing we learned that achieving this performance typically takes 2-3 weeks of continuous training, so during this time your model's performance will begin at around 70% and quickly progress to being perfect. This is also why many other softwares typically top out at 70-80% efficacy - they're missing this final step.
Fluorocell is a monthly subscription plan, so your lab will be billed at the end of each month. Each lab is given a 30-day free trial when they start their subscription, during which we will deploy a model for them and train it through fine-tuning on their data. You can also purchase a demo package for $60, in which a lab can submit a set of data, and we will train a model to 100% efficacy, typically within 2-3 weeks. If you're satisfied by your model's performance, you can immediately start a monthly subscription with your model already at full performance. The first step for requesting a demo or starting a free trial, however, is to contact us and schedule your initial consultation here!
If you're a mid-level researcher, reach out to your PI and ask them to schedule a meeting with us here. We can learn what images and file types you're working with, and set your lab up with a license within a day. Each lab license comes with unlimited seats, and your team admin (can be assigned to your PI or anyone else on your team) can give new users their organization's invite code to register and use their account. Once your lab starts their subscription, they'll receive a 30-day free trial during which their model will be trained on their data to reach full performance.
